Why Breathwork?

In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of thoughts, emotions, and expectations, leaving us feeling disconnected and overwhelmed. As a somatic breathwork practitioner, I believe in the profound connection between body and breath, recognizing that our breath serves as a bridge to our inner wisdom.

What is the difference between Breathwork and a Breathwork Journey?

Breathwork can take many forms. It shows up in sports, exercise, spiritual traditions, and cultures around the world. At its core, breathwork means intentional breathing—whether to calm the mind, relax the body, boost energy, or connect to something greater than ourselves. It’s a versatile practice, perfect for managing stress, staying present, and supporting overall well-being. Its scope is truly endless.

A breathwork journey, however, is something deeper. It’s a guided experience, often lasting an hour or more, where your breath becomes a tool for self-exploration and emotional release. These journeys create space for healing, insight, and connection to the deeper parts of yourself.

Think of breathwork as a daily tool with limitless applications, while breathwork journeys are opportunities for powerful transformation, offering profound emotional healing and personal clarity.

What is Somatic Breathwork™?

Somatic Breathwork™ is an embodiment experience. It takes you out of your thinking mind and into your body’s electrical network. The method facilitates your release of unneeded energy within this network, which may be caused by repeating thoughts, feelings, and old narratives, by discharging the unneeded energy out through your body. 

Somatic Breathwork™ employs circular connected breathing coupled with rhythmic music intended to produce a cathartic emotional release. This release may be in the form of moving, shaking, yelling, crying, or laughing (among others). Using the breath, you may engage your innate ability to heal and sweep out defenses, blockages, restrictions, or pains that hold you back from who you are and how you want to show up in this world.

You can look at your nervous system as the electrical network of your entire being. Over time, unresolved trauma or chronic stress causes dysregulation of this network. When dysregulated, difficulties in your personal or professional life may arise. When you heal trauma and stress, you heal the electrical network of your nervous system. When you heal the nervous system, you heal the emotional self so your authentic self can emerge. That’s when life gets… a lot more fun.  

Regulation is not about maintaining a state of calm but being able to maintain a state of choice.

Most people have a hard time turning it on or turning it off and get stuck easily in one of those states with little ability to change it.
